In depth imaging, depth calibration using well-tie updated velocity is generally applied to poststack data. This is the most correct type of depth calibration as it positions structures in their proper places.
This paper describes how a final interval velocity model is achieved through a hybrid approach combining various techniques. Depth migration using this hybrid approach not only gives flat depth gathers, but also gives very satisfactory images, with the events matched well tops.
