Antonio Pietri, President & CEO, Aspen Technology

Antonio Pietri is President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AspenTech, and also serves on the company’s Board of Directors. Prior to his appointment to President and CEO, Pietri served as Executive Vice President, Worldwide Field Operations, where he led global Sales, Sales Operations, Professional Services, and Customer Support & Training. He previously served as Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Regional Operations, Asia Pacific, based in Singapore and Beijing, China.

Pietri joined AspenTech through the company’s acquisition of Setpoint, Inc. in 1996. At Setpoint, Pietri held a range of sales, services implementation, and consulting roles, where he oversaw integration of AspenTech solutions at European refinery and process manufacturing sites. In 2002, he relocated to Singapore as Vice President, Business Consulting, and was subsequently promoted to Managing Director of the Asia Pacific region. He began his career at ABB Simcon as an applications engineer focused on advanced control and multi-variable controllers for refining.

Pietri serves on the Chemical Engineering Advisory Board at the University of Tulsa. He was the 2017 selection for the MIT Warren K. Lewis Lectureship in Chemical Engineering, and is a frequent speaker at industry events. He holds an MBA from the University of Houston and a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Tulsa.

John Hague, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Asset Performance Management (APM) Business Unit, Aspen Technology

Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Domain expertise: A New Recipe for Asset Availability

John Hague is Senior Vice President and General Manager of AspenTech’s Asset Performance Management (APM) business unit. In this role, John is responsible for executing the Company’s APM global business strategy for the products, sales and services of the APM product line. His responsibilities include driving sales in the Company’s core process industry markets, as well as other asset-intensive industries that can benefit from Asset Optimization -- such as metals & mining, power, pulp & paper, waste water treatment and transportation – employing direct and indirect business approaches.

Over the past 20 years, John has served in a variety of key executive roles at AspenTech, overseeing sales organizations in North and Latin America, building out the Middle East and North Africa business region as well as driving AspenTech’s global partner strategy and several key acquisitions. John previously worked with Conoco where he held management positions in several business areas including roles supporting the DuPont organization. He also has held management positions at Scientific Software and Advanced Pipeline Technologies. He holds a B.S. and an MBA from Oklahoma State University.

Rob Howard, Vice President MENA, Aspen Technology

Opening Remarks

Rob Howard is AspenTech’s Vice President leading the Middle East and North Africa Region, based in Bahrain. He leads a large team of account managers, technical experts and business consultants who work with clients to optimize asset performance and profitability across their engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and maintenance business processes.

He has 35 years of world-wide experience in the oil & gas, refining, petrochemical and polymer industries and is a specialist in improving plant operations through the application of AspenTech’s integrated AspenONE solutions. He began his career with ExxonMobil at their Durban Refinery in South Africa, where he held senior operating and technical positions over a 10 year period before joining AspenTech. During more than 25 years with AspenTech he has lead consulting engagements with most of the world’s largest Energy and Chemical companies. He has held a number of senior technical and leadership positions in the Professional Services and Business Consulting groups across the Europe and the MENA regions, including 4 years leading APAC Regional Operations based in Singapore, before being appointed to his current role.

Rob is a passionate chemical engineer, a registered Professional Engineer and Fellow of the UK Institute of Chemical Engineers.
