CrySIM - Batch and Continuous Crystallizer Modeling
CrySIM simulates the dynamic behavior of a crystallizer (both
batch and continuous models) based on the material and process
specific kinetic data, the starting conditions and the operating
schedule. The program predicts the transient concentration,
supersaturation, magma density and crystal size distribution,
assuming that the solution is well mixed. CrySIM can be used as a
training tool or to predict the likely impact of a process change
before the change is made at manufacturing
scale.
It is a useful training tool and can be used to predict the
likely impact of a process change before the change is made at
manufacturing scale. This program assumes the crystallizer is well
mixed, therefore the model is not appropriate for processes that
are sensitive to mixing, in particular drowning out and reactive
crystallization. A procedure for obtaining kinetic data for use in
the CRYSIM models is described in the Process Manual - CrystallizationTechnical Area - Volume VII Part
5.
